As much as we hate to say it, you can’t take everyone’s recommendation for good nude gel nail polish. No offense to our friends of a paler skin tone, but nude is a relative term. Nude on one person is ashy on us black and brown people.
Nude gel nail polish is no different than any other nude product on the market. Think of it. There are a whole list of things advertised as nude that don’t look right on us. Tights, stockings, foundation, underwear, Band-Aids- must we continue?
When looking for a true brown/black girl nude, it’s important to see the colors tested on people who look like you. That’s why I am here to show you some of my favorite neutral and nude gel nail polishes and how I use them for different manicure looks. I’ll even tell you how much I used of each coat. No gatekeeping around here girls. Let’s go slay this DIY manicure!
1. GAOY 6 Color Nude Gel Nail Polish Set – Icy Jelly
Different occasions call for different nudes. This nude gel nail polish set is perfect when you need all your basic and essential nudes in one place. It’s got a unique mix of pink, cream-colored, mauve, and red nudes that all look fantastic on dark skin. The possibilities are endless. I used one coat 1004 and two coats 1301 for this look. The hearts were drawn using my favorite flash gel polishes of all time!
2. Aimeili Soak Off Nude Gel Nail Polish – Rose Nude (022)
You can never have too many pink nudes, and this is by far the most natural and effortless pinky nude. I’ve found that 2-3 coats is the sweet spot for dark skin tones- not too clear but not too pink. Just keep in mind, the more coats you apply, the more pink it’ll get. Make sure you get shade Rose Nude 022 (that’s what’s used in this picture!).
3. MEFA Brown Gel Nail Polish 6 Colors Set
Ok- so I don’t currently have an all brown manicure picture to show off, but look at these STUNNING swatches. This six pack comes with colors ranging from the lightest caramel browns, khakis, and beiges to the deepest coffee browns. If you wanna spice it up, they pair perfectly with this super sparkly brown flash gel polish. One of my favorite!
4. Beetles Milky White Gel Polish – 000
Milky white and white are not the same. The girls that get it get it.
Finding a milky white that has full-coverage and minimal streaks is hard but this one does the trick. Just look at this chic and clean white-on-white twist on the classic French tip manicure. I used 3 coats of the milky white as a base to achieve this look. The darker white used for the French Tip detail is listed below in the next set. Don’t forget to add butterfly stickers!
5. Beetles Black and White Gel Polish Duo
It is essential to have a full-coverage, plain, black and white polish in your gel nail kit. They can be used to add designs, details, or as a background for sheer colors, chrome powder, cateye polish– you name it! These are by far the best and silkiest black and white polish I could find. Two coats are all you need!
