Woman applying deodorant. Antiperspirants for excessive sweat.

If you’re a woman who struggles with excessive sweating, you know how much sweat stains can ruin your life. Not only are they embarrassing, but they also make people (falsely) believe that you’re unhygienic and dirty. Colorful outfits get ruined by unsightly pit puddles and you are reduced to only wearing black in an attempt to hide some of the sweat. Not to mention that excessive sweat is both physically and mentally uncomfortable. Constantly having to fear if your sweat is showing and being self-conscious of every move you make is no way to live.

The stigma behind excessive sweating is so bad, but the truth is that many of us go through it, especially women. While excessive sweaters deal with wetness all year long, we are especially weary of the upcoming spring and summer seasons. That is the peak time for sweat and embarrassment to arise.

Many deodorants market themselves as the best sweat-fighting, odor-blocking option out there, and some are very convincing. We think “this is the one” and get all excited to finally be free of this burden until we swipe it on and… pit stains. Ugh!

Well like many excessive sweaters out there, I have tried hundreds of different deodorants from every brand available. Of those, I have come across 6 antiperspirant deodorants that have actually helped to reduce excessive sweating.

A Couple Of Things To Keep In Mind:

  1. One of the most important things to look for when finding an antiperspirant deodorant is the active ingredient. Antiperspirants that have aluminum as the active ingredient are made with the best sweat-fighting technology.
  2. This list isn’t foolproof. Maybe I’m mistaken, but I haven’t heard of any deodorant that works 100% for everybody. I won’t lie to you and say “these will stop your sweating completely, guaranteed!”. Every person is different, and body heat, hormones, and a number of other things come into play when it comes to our body’s excessive sweat.
  3. A small disclaimer: I am not a doctor or in the medical field. I am just a fellow excessive sweater who wants to help other ladies out. This is MY personal experience. As always, I have personally tried every product being reviewed and this is how it worked for me.

Now that we took care of that, let’s get into the ratings!

The 6 Best Antiperspirant Deodorants For Women Who Excessive Sweat

1. Certain Dri Perscription Strength

Type: Roll-on

Active Ingredient: Aluminum Chloride (12%)

Price: $6

Scent: Fragrance-Free, Unscented

Pros: Certain Dri Perscription Strength really does work! Out of every deodorant I’ve ever tried, this one really does stop sweating. It was the first time ever that my armpits were completely dry. Seriously. Buttt…

Cons: It almost worked too well. The sweat that was usually coming out of my armpits started coming out of other places. My back, specifically, was absolutely drenched! Also, it caused a lot of irritation. After a couple of days of using it, my armpits felt so dry that they were itchy and eventually began to burn. One day I used it after I had shaved and was calling on Jesus for help! IT. WAS. BURNING!

Summary: The best at stopping excessive sweat but may cause irritation, burning, or itching.

2. Degree Motion Sense Shower Clean Invisible Solid

Type: Solid

Active Ingredient: Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly (18.2%)

Price: $9

Scent: Shower Clean

Pros: This option by Degree is a great way to stop excessive sweat. The motion sense technology activates sweat blockers with every movement you make, which makes it good competition even against some of the clinical-strength deodorants! It’s invisible on the skin and doesn’t leave white stains on shirts. The fragrance is a fresh, clean, rose, and jasmine scent and gives the feeling of being shower-fresh all day long.

Cons: Applying too much can cause the deodorant to clump in the creases of armpits. Cover each part of the underarm with one swipe but do not layer it.

Summary: The shower fresh scent last all day and helps prevent excessive sweat, just make sure not to pile it on if you want it to be invisible on the skin.

3. Secret Clinical Strength Antiperspirant Deodorant

Type: Invisible Solid

Active Ingredient: Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly (20%)

Price: $9

Scent: Completely Clean

Pros: This clinical-strength antiperspirant by Secret will not burn you or make you itch. It has pH-balancing minerals that make it easily tolerable for the skin and provitamin B5 which is proven to provide a soothing feeling and protect the skin from irritation. It is strong but gentle. Perfect if you’ve been wanting to try a clinical strength but have sensitive skin.

Cons: If a deodorant with a strong smell isn’t your thing, this might not be the one for you. Its a good smell but it is on the stronger side, especially when combined with sweat.

Summary: Works very well but some may consider the smell to be strong.

4. Dove Advanced Care Go Fresh Cool Essentials Antiperspirant Deodorant

Type: Invisible Solid

Active Ingredient: Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Gly (15.2%)

Price: $14 (Twin Pack)

Scent: Cool Essentials

Pros: Not only does Dove Advanced Care protect from odor and sweat, but it also leaves armpits feeling soft, smooth, and moisturized. Its formula is made with ¼ cup moisturizer, making it apply silky and smooth. The cucumber, honeydew, and green tea scent is fresh, cool, and energizing.

Cons: If you become resistant to certain deodorants easily after a few months then you should note this: When using Dove you may have to switch to a new deodorant every couple of months to make sure the deodorant doesn’t become resistant.

Summary: Light and fresh smell, moisturizing, and great for all skin types. May become resistant after a few months of use.

5. Secret Derma+ Cooling 48H Invisible Gel B5 + Aloe Antiperspirant

Type: Gel

Active Ingredient: Aluminum Zirconium Octachlorohydrex GLY (20%)

Price: $11

Scent: Aloe

Pros: This gel deodorant is a great option for people who struggle with excessive sweat. It has a clean, gender-neutral smell and is made with soothing aloe. The easy squeeze tube that it comes in looks much different than any other gel deodorant package out there and helps make sure that no product gets wasted.

Cons: Sometimes when it dries it will leave white marks on the skin, but this can be avoided by only putting on a small amount. If you want it to be invisible on the skin, only apply a thin layer of product. Also, remember that it takes a couple of minutes to dry.

Summary: Made with aloe and has a gender-neutral scent. Only apply a thin layer or it may leave white marks.

6. Dove Advanced Care 48H Protection Antiperspirant Dry Spray

Type: Spray

Active Ingredient: Aluminum Chlorohydrate (20.2%)

Price: $10

Scent: Nourished Beauty (That’s my fav- but they all smell amazing!)

Pros: Just like Dove Advanced Care, Dove Dry Spray is made with moisturizing oil and the same delicious selection of fragrances. It’s a great addition to your sweat-stopping collection. Not only can it be used on underarms, but it also doubles as a body spray. On extremely hot and humid days, use the dry spray to keep areas like the back, stomach, and other sweaty parts from getting too moist. And don’t worry about waiting long for it to dry, it dries instantly!

Cons: Make sure to follow the directions and spray it six inches away from your body. If not, there’s a risk that you may see white marks on the skin.

Summary: Dries instantly and moisturizes
