Beginner bloggers have a steep learning curve if they want to rank their website on the first page of Google. NGL it can be pretty hard at first but it’s not impossible. There are all these people throwing out big scary tech terms at you like SEO (search engine optimization) and providing unrealistic expectations of making thousands of dollars from home in just a few months. Not to crush anyone’s dreams butttt that’s not how it works for most people.
For most of us it can take months or even years to start seeing the success we want. Don’t worry! We all started somewhere. The point is everybody’s on their own journey and goes at their own pace. But starting out right from the beginning gives your site an advantage and a greater chance of being discovered by new visitors. Yay!
Here are 4 free ways for beginner bloggers to get their website to rank on Google.
1. Semrush Keywords
Before starting a new blog post, I always take a look at the Semrush Keywords Tool. This shows you the best keywords to use in your blog post based on how popular they are, how saturated the search is, and. In other words, it shows your words that are highly searched don’t have a lot of competition. Psst- that means you can rank #1 on Google and all that traffic will be sent to you! Just put in your topic and start searching.
Luckily there is a free version of Semrush. You can get 10 free keyword searches everyday! After that you either can pay for more searches or a monthly unlimited subscription.
2. Yoast SEO
Yoast is a lifesaver for beginner bloggers trying to rank their blog posts. It shows you how many times to add keywords (that you looked up on Semrush) into your post for the best chances at ranking. It comes as a free plug-in on WordPress that makes it super easy to connect directly to your post. Yoast will scan through and tell you what to fix for the best odds at ranking #1!
3. Google Trends
Whenever you’re trying to write about things people are interested knowing what they’re looking for is a big help. This tool will tell you just that! Google trends shows you what the top trending searches are nationwide and worldwide. It will compare keywords, show you what regions are most interested in your topic, and show the peak time of year that your topic is searched. Good to know!
4. Pinterest Trends
Having a Pinterest account is HUGE when you’re a beginner blogger trying to take your blog to the next level.
Pinterest is a social media search engine. Millions of people go on there everyday specifically looking for blog posts to answer their questions. What does that mean for you? More traffic, more visitors, more sales. Cha-ching!
Just like anything on the internet, in order to get the most views on Pinterest you’ve got to have interesting content that uses keywords and SEO to rank high. That’s where trends comes in. It compares and shows you the most trending topics on Pinterest and how to get your pins seen. Feel free to make as many pins as you want on Canva (also free) and start posting.
