Need help finding chapsticks for dry lips that actually work? We got you!
Having problems with super dry lips is the worst. Not only is it unattractive, frustrating, and embarrassing. It is also sooo uncomfortable and difficult to hide! Your smile is one of the first things people look at when they see you, and that includes the lips! Nobody wants to feel their lips itching around the edges, so dry that they’re bleeding and flaking off. How embarrassing is it to have snow falling off of your lips while having a conversation with somebody? Ugh!
I’ve been there and struggled for months without having any luck- until I found this perfect combo. This lip care routine is simple, inexpensive, and really works! These are the best chapsticks for dry lips.
Disclaimer: As always, I need to tell you that I am not a dermatologist or doctor of any kind. This is not medical advice. These are just my personal experiences and what worked for me. Consult you physician if you have any concerns.
Best Chapsticks For Dry Lips
1. Dr. Dans Cortibalm
Hallelujah! THIS is THE holy grail of chapsticks for dry lips. The saving grace when I suddenly developed eczema-like symptoms on my lips after never having a problem. It will have your lips so moisturized and feeling back to normal. Itch, crust, flakes, and dryness be gone! When nothing else worked, this did. It’s really worth the hype!
Apply the balm to your lips right before bed and sleep with it on. When you wake up in the morning you will still feel it on there (yes, it’s that good!). It does have a slight steroid in it, so try not to use it everyday to avoid building up a tolerance. Only use it when you need it, are having a really bad flare up, or a couple of nights on and a couple of nights off during the week.
2. Aquaphor Lip Repair
Plain ole Aquaphor is a great daily moisturizing lip balm. The formula feels smooth on, buttery, and is long-lasting. It is made with vitamins, shea butter, and chamomile to soothe and heal severely dry lips. It is not made with dyes, fragrances, or parabens- which is what you should be looking for if you’re having lip issues. Just carry this in your pocket or hand bag and use it as much as you need to.
3. Coconut Oil
We’ve talked about the health and beauty benefits of coconut oil for itch and dryness before but let’s go over it again just for fun. Not only is it super moisturizing, it is a natural antibacterial, feels good, smells great, and is safe to go on and in your mouth.
Since it is all natural, it will not burn your lips if they have open sores or cracks from being so dry. The oil actually acts as a shield for you lips and protects them from further irritants and germs. You can apply coconut oil by itself or mixed with other chapsticks for an extra moisture boost. It even helps to put a layer of Vaseline or Aquaphor on top to seal in the moisture.
4. Vaseline – Unscented
Vaseline is a skin protectant made of purified and hypoallergenic petroleum jelly, meaning it is gentle on even the most sensitive skin. has more of a greasy texture than Aquaphor but is also more lightweight and just as moisturizing. Try to stick to the plain one for best results, or at least for starters. I know, it’s super boring. But when you’re having lip problems its best to avoid possible irritants. That means no flavors, no dyes, and no harsh chemicals.
5. Vitamin E Oil
Another one of our favorite oils. Vitamin E oil is full of antioxidants, pure vitamins, and minerals that support a health immune system. Great for calming irritation and inflammation, and supporting overall skin health (including lip skin of course!). It even reduces signs of aging, prevents cracks, and wrinkles.
6. Fenty Lip Gloss (Cosmetic Use Only)
Ok… so remember that thing I just said about keeping lip products plain. Wellll- every once in a while I do break that rule. Sometimes I still just wanna feel pretty and add an extra touch of glam. These lip gloss are my favorite and don’t seem to irritate my sensitive dry lips. I just layer the lip gloss over one of the chapsticks for dry lips listed above and my lips seem to do fine.
*Just to be clear, this is NOT one of the best chapsticks for dry lips. Just an honorable mention from our daily makeup routine.*
